UV resin is different to epoxy resin in a number of ways.
1. No mixing required. UV resin does not need to be mixed with hardener in order for it to cure.
2. Curing. UV resin unlike epoxy resin cures under a UV light and takes only a couple of minutes.
3. Pouring depths. UV resin is ideal for very shallow pours and intricate pours. Because it cures so quickly you do not need to worry about it moving.
4. Versatility. Because of its fast curing time UV resin can be used for other uses such as sealing or bonding.
I make jewellery from metal, beads, glass, polymer clay... but had almost given up on UV resin after having a few disappointing results from other brands (some quite well-known & expensive). I saw Mouldd advertised &, having seen the reviews, thought I would give it a go. Amazing results! Really, really happy. Easy to work with & cures perfectly hard in my UV light box without the tackiness I had experienced with other brands. Beautifully shiny finish with no bubbles & I found it doesn't start to thicken too quickly while I'm working with it & it's also not overly runny, easy to control. It's a pleasure to clean up too... I suppose because it doesn't start to thicken too quickly, spills are easily wiped away. Without a doubt, this is the very best UV resin I have EVER used. Love it - glad I trusted the reviews & tried it.
I have tried a few UV resins now for the jewellery whcih I make and UV is my new favourite. It compares very well to Padico, but is much much cheaper. I recommend this one all day long to other artists. Give it a try for sure if you need a UV resin.
Was recommended by a friend and very glad it was, works as well as you can hope
Our shallow pour resin has a work time of 40 - 45 minutes. It will depend on the room temperature, but optimal working temperature is 21 degrees.
Our deep pour resin has a much longer work time of 120+ minutes, meaning you have plenty of time to perfect your creation before it begins to cure!
Mouldd resin takes 24 hours to cure. However, most of our artists find that it can be much quicker depending on the room temperature and size of the art. It will be hard to touch within 7 hours.
Our deep pour resin takes 72 hours to cure.
Our UV resin is slightly different and requires a UV light to cure. Once under a UV light it will cure within 2 minutes.
When developing mouldd resin our key focus was on clarity. We have extensively tested mouldd resin over time periods of 12+ months and seen no yellowing.
Anti-yellowing is one of mouldd resin's key qualities.
